Now, last week I mentioned I would be interviewing Emika, the electronic dance musician who released an album based on her own experiences with the pressure of the music industry on her mental health. We were meant to speak Friday evening but when I tried contacting, I didn’t hear back. Since then I have been in contact with her manager who is attempting to reschedule the interview. However, this can be the first sign that someone is no longer as keen to be interviewed. So, I will still be looking for another case study in these next few weeks, just in case Emika decides she does not want to be interviewed.
If you can remember from a few weeks back, I mentioned Steve Pycroft, the Kaleidoscope Orchestra Conductor. I have been in contact with him again, asking if I can interview some of his musicians for my online feature, as he mentioned that they had come to him in the past about their own personal struggles with their mental health. He has also given me permission to use their footage from their Creamfields tribute to Avicii, as well as their studio footage of the tribute. After looking back at my own footage, I realised that the quality wasn’t as high as I thought and it just wouldn’t work for the online video content.
For the next two weeks, I will be undertaking a placement at Mixmag, the target publication for this project. This will be the perfect opportunity to learn their online and print writing style as well as looking at how they produce their info vids, so I can replicate this in my own project.
